Description

System 6™ is a two part urethane coating that can be applied to Hypalon/Neoprene boats. The Hypalon kit includes Accelerator and Hypalon Primer. It is both abrasion resistant and flexible when fully cured. It dries to the touch overnight and the special accelerator in each kit creates a full cure in 4 days (10 days if used without the accelerator, accelerator INCLUDED).

System 6™ is easy to mix because you combine equal parts of Part A and Part B. However, if you are going to add pigment you must add the pigment to Part A first and then combine with Part B. To match the color of your boat stir in our special System 6 Stay True Color™ Stable Pigment available in Black, Blue, Light Gray, Green, Yellow, Red, Charcoal, Orange, and Absolute White!

Once you have chosen the kit size you need based on the square footage you are going to cover, choose that size pigment.  For instance – its not that you are being 1 gallon of pigment – it is that you will be sent enough of a given color to use in a 1 gallon kit.  every color has it’s own coverage properties.

The kits listed are to be applied with a brush or a short nap roller. Coverage estimates are for 30-40 mil thickness (0.03″-0.04″) – thinner applications will cover more.

1 Pint Kit covers about 3 sq. ft.

1 Quart Kit covers about 6 sq. ft.

1/2 Gallon Kit covers about 12 sq. ft.

1 Gallon Kit covers about 24 sq. ft.

2 Gallon Kit covers about 48 sq. ft.

We prettied up some ugly worn spots on our green boats and was able to color match per Beth’s instructions. See our boat color here…

We used our flexane experience to minimize how much overlap to do. Did not go 2 inches over as instructed. I don’t believe there is a need.

Added a tiny bit of white in the green to give a perfect match.

Used Scotch “2025” masking tape and had no leaks. Tried blue and green painters tape with lots of leaks.

Chose not to wipe with toluene after buffing. Wiping melts the rough texture when patching. Figured it would do the same for this.

Tape leaves a tiny bit of residue. We may let that wear off.

Looks great. Acts and feels about the same as flexane when done. I would continue to use flexane for black wear strips on the bottom of boats. About 10 coats of this are needed to equal one coat of flexane. We used 4 coats on color matched boat fabric to cover it.
