Deflate the chamber and leave the valve locked in the “open” position.
Using our special B7 wrench or a large crescent wrench or pliers (pad the jaws of the pliers with a towel to prevent damaging the outside of the valve), unscrew counterclockwise the outside part of the valve from the inside part (grasp the inside part of the valve from behind through the boat material with your hand to prevent it from turning).
Then push the inside part or the valve into the chamber and turn it around so you can see the backside.
Use a pair of needle nose pliers and grasp the black rubber diaphragm on the backside and unscrew it counterclockwise until you can remove it from the boat. Don’t worry about damaging it since you are going to install a new spindle, spring & diaphragm.
Turn the valve back around and move the valve to the “closed” position. The spindle and spring will come free and can be removed from the valve.
Insert the new spindle and spring into the valve and turn and lock the spindle in the “open” position.
Turn the valve around and screw the new diaphragm onto the spindle (being careful not to cross-thread or damage the diaphragm).
Then turn the valve around and screw the outer part of the Valve to the inner part of the Valve and you are finished.
C7 Instructions
Deflate the chamber and leave the valve locked in the “open” position.
Using our special C7 wrench or large pliers (pad the jaws of the pliers with a towel to prevent damaging the outside of the valve), unscrew counterclockwise the outside part of the valve from the inside part (grasp the inside part of the valve from behind through the boat material with your hand to prevent it from turning).
Unlike the A7 & the B7 the entire working mechanism of the C7 is contained within the outer part of the Valve. Once removed from the boat turn the outer part of the C7 around and pull the black rubber diaphgram off the end of the spindle… it does not un-screw, but simply pulls off the spindle.
Turn the spindle to the “closed” position and it and the spring will come free from the Valve.
Install the new spring and spindle and lock in the spindle in the “open” position. Then press the new diaphgram onto the end of the spindle making sure it is firmly attached.
Move the spindle from the open to the closed position several times to make sure the diaphgram is correctly attached to the end of the spindle.
Once you are confident that the diaphgram is properly attached and seated, re-install the outer part of the C7 into the Backing Nut and tighten firmly… don’t forget to install the black plastic washer that fits between the outer part of the C7 and the boat material (ridges toward the boat material and smooth side out toward the outer part of the C7) and you are finished.
If you have any leaks around the outside of the valve, tighten more with the special C7 wrench.
